About 150 broken tan colored ceramic tiles that would be great for art projects

There it is! The old “art project” canard. Here’s the “art project” this would work for. You are a performance artist. To represent the ephemerality of human existence, your performances consist of putting things in trash bags and throwing them away. Strangely, the artworld has not yet recognized your genius. Keep trying. Place these tiles in a heavy plastic bag and throw them away. Made the cover of ArtForum, yet? At the very least, you will be helping this poster with her performance art project. She tries to get people to come over and take out her trash, to demonstrate human gullibility. You are her first victim. Sorry, I mean, collaborator.

i have a very nice table that has a top made of broken tiles and plates with a second glass top. my mother in law made it and it is gorgeous.

No, hels saying that its someone else’s trash that they don’t want to take out. So why not get someone on craigslist to go get it.

They do that with a tonnn of trees ans yard waste. “Hey, got sum firewood if ya’l wanna come and git it. Its nice, really nice” (picture of a fallen tree)

I can understand trying to trick someone into taking a dilapidated motor home or barrels of toxic waste off your property, but it would take two minutes to dispose of this stuff.

  4. chocochi says:

Well, ahem….people would actually want this. Broken tiles are great for mosaic. Our school used to get broken tiles from all the local tile shops for art classes.

  5. Bill says:

I have an artist friend who stores broken ceramic in bins in her garage sorted by color. To some people, this is a great find.

  6. Jane says:

As an art major, I was about to explain that broken tiles work very well for mosaic, but I see that other art majors have beat me to it. :-)

  7. Ivailo says:

I had a roommate studying art in a university. She once looked for lots of tiles, no matter broken or not. When I asked her why she needs broken tiles she said it’s for a mosaic project for the university.
She got some, broke them down to smaller parts and began working on the project.

I believe some people shouldn’t make fools of themselves on such places.

Are you talking about you, this site, or your old roommate?

  9. Jane says:

    @BIG123
I believe Ivailo meant the people who were snickering at the “art project” idea. English might not be Ivailo’s first language, so no reason to make fun of him/her.

yes but these are all TAN! bleh! i’m assuming anyone doing said art project could easily find tiles that actually look nice so that said art project is clearly a work of ART.

  11. W00T says:

Whoa, why didn’t I think of that? I don’t wanna take out my trash, so i’ll store it in my garage and put it on CraigsList! It’s the perfect plan! Broken glass, no problem, some gullible idiot from Iowa should want it for an ‘Art Project’. That schroom and swiss burger from friday? Well, I’ll just give it to that homeless dude who lives under the tractor trailer lot. But wait, that would require work… and movement… and being kind.

  12. Indiana Jeebus says:

The really important thing here is that they’re in a bathtub.

  13. Wizzy says:

So what if they’re tan? Is tan not a color used in mosaic art? Skin tones?
