INAD - Piano

Found by: Kiskisdrr on Detroit Craigslist

This was in my basement when I moved in. It would only be good for parts for a restoration. You move it out yourself. You need to be careful though, because the stair way is rather narrow. Do not damage it moving the piano out!

Like hot tubs and concrete rubble, old pianos litter the free classifieds. It makes sense: they take up a lot of room, they go out of tune, they give the mice a place to hide, and when the earthquake finally comes, you’ll be bummed if you find yourself sitting next to one. So again – lots of no-longer-appreciated pianos. Hell, Neko Case apparently filled a barn with free pianos she found on craigslist.

So I think it’s gonna take some kind of miracle for this poster to find a taker for these piano remains. The only hope she has is if a Professor of Particulate Science decides that this is too rich a trove of ancient dust to pass up.

    Never underestimate what you can do with an old piano. This is what I have in my condo (thanks, dad!):

    The process of making it:

    Basically, he tore it down, ripped out the piano bits, sanded and painted, fixed up the missing pieces, and put it back together with some shelving and other enhancements. Result: One bitchin’ piano bar. ;)

    Good grief…… just from looking at the photo, I couldn’t even tell that was a piano. Or a part of one.

  3. Loudo says:

    “That is a priceless Steinway, Inspector Clouseau!”

    That is such awesome recycling it should be an ad for environmentalist groups everywhere

    “Don’t throw stuff away! Make it into things like this!”

    Otto..totally fabulous.

  7. Malisyn says:

    It looks like it would make a great conversation/severe torture piece. Who could pass that up?

  8. rookgaroo says:

    Oh, and if you could also haul away the ghost of the sad-looking young woman in 18-century clothes who starts playing funeral marches at 3:10 every morning, that would be good, too.

  9. //Ann says:

    Very nice, Otto! I’m first in line when you decide to post it on craigslist! (And I promise not to bang up your walls!)

    @Otto

    Very cool Otto, what time’s the party? Clearly your family possesses creativity, talent and ambition. Three traits that the average Craig’s List poster does not.

  11. JD says:

    Now lets all sing…”99 bottles of beer in the piano, 99 bottles of beer…”

  12. JP says:

    Ok, maybe I’m unclear on the concept, but how is this “Not as described”?
    CL’er clearly states “would only be good for parts”. Looks like that’s exactly as described.

    @JP
    Because Item(s) Not As Described and random ridiculous junk advertised for free or otherwise mostly sourced from craigslist.org was a little too long?

  14. Hey, I love that wordpress theme, is it a custom theme, or can it be downloaded somewhere?
