INAD - 28' Travel Trailer

Found by: Shelly on Seattle Craigslist

This post is pending for pickup.

Just checked. It’s still “pending for pickup.” I have a feeling that will be “pending” for a while. Have I ever told you that I am an NFL quarterback? Well, you know, pending draft, contract, and learning how to throw a ball.

1980 Love Mate Travel Trailer

That sounds like something pleasant. Fun, even. “Love Mate.” I think they may have mislabeled this particular unit. “Partner in Despair” sounds more accurate.

1 bedroom, 1 bath, aluminum siding, dual axles, missing one wheel, gas furnace, has tipout in frontroom lived in til last year.

Picture the person able/willing to live in this – presuming this looked more or less the same last year as it does today. I ask a simple question – do you want to meet this person in an isolated field?

I have owned the trailer for 20yrs. Bought from my sister’s father in law. He has since died a couple of years ago and title can’t be found.

That is a very interesting story. I’m not sure why you told it, but I suppose the fact that you have family members does make you – a person willing to live in this trailer – seem a little less frightening.

IT IS MISSING A WHEEL.

Thanks again, got it.

In my opinion it is not in condition to be lived in. It has been sitting a year with no heat. Roof in frontroom partial crushed from snow this winter.

And this coming from someone who lived in it until very recently. Even by his standards, this thing is a disaster. Or is it . . . ?

The county kicked me out because(someone called them) you cannot legally live in recreational vehicle.

That tells us a bit more about him, doesn’t it? This is not in livable condition, but he would have remained in it, had it not been for some goddamned snitch. I’m beginning to get a distinct Ted Kaczynski vibe from our donor. I no longer want only to avoid him, I want to avoid entering the trailer. I suspect it contains booby traps he’s long since forgotten. “Oh yeah, don’t open tha . . . *kablamo*!!1!”

It appears to be safe enough to tow but I’m no expert, just a computer technician.

“Computer technician?” Let me guess. This is the last computer you were well-versed in. Or was it this:

computer_early_1

Do they make computers out of rust and misery? Those seem like the things you might have technical skills in.

If you still interested, send email Wil

I think I’m very interested. But more in hearing the hair-raising tales Wil could tell than in the trailer.

Sorry my good man half of this post is missing. Could you reformat it so we could see it?

  2. //Ann says:

Aww, I think it’s very cozy. All it needs are a little dog, a white picket fence, Blondie & Dagwood, and Rosemary’s baby.

  3. Mr. Bojangles says:

So its illegal to live in and even if I could its about to fall apart? Who could pass this up?

  4. e says:

@Carnasis Vanderfellow Nothing’s missing if you’re smart enough to read the post, my good man. It’s all right there. The light blue blockquoted parts are the original, the rest are the commentary on it.

Might come as a shock to some, but sometimes just looking at the pretty pictures doesn’t give you everything you need to know…

  5. sickgirl says:

Actually if you have kids this trailer could create a real bonding experience for you. I have a very fond childhood memory of a trailer just like this one. It had been abandoned and sitting on my grandparent’s land for decades, and I guess about 1984 or 1985 (making me five or six) they decided it had to go so we BURNED IT DOWN!!!!112!@ Best. Day. Ever.

  6. mirabilis says:

@ e I think Carnasis Vanderfellow meant that the top image of the original advert is cut in half.

    @e
Well my good man, if you’re smart ass enough to insult the readers who very obviously are aware that the “pretty pictures” wouldn’t give one everything one might need to know, you should also be smart enough to recognize that the whole thrust of this website is the original Craigslist post in it’s entirety. Then the clever and witty commentary on and about it.
My first post on this Inad was a genuine and polite request to see the original.

    oops wrong post

  10. Loudo says:

Sorry “e”, but Team Carnasis wins this one. The right side of the original post is gone, so it’s a difficult first read. Accordingly your weak sauce sarcasm is a massive fail. Kthxbai

    Dearest Readers:

I don’t wanna see y’all getting too worked up with each other. Perhaps this will help. We’re* experimenting with screen grabs, for verisimilitude’s sake. You may recall that we formerly just used pictures and text from the ads. Unfortunately, the screen grabs, were they full-sized, would result in tiny, tiny pictures (we like pictures), and even tinier words, so we aren’t “grabbing” the full ad. Just enough to say “see? Thar she blows!”

We do, however, try to include any pertinent text below in quotation, as in this post. So the posts should be more-or-less complete (unless we find the text irrelevant to our comments), even if the screen grab of the original isn’t. Fair enough??

*Honest to god, we’re a “we.” I’m not going all “royal we” on you.

  12. mystic_eye_cda says:

I don’t want to get all technical on you but if you resize the browser window so its about half the width of the screen then did the screen shot, pasted it in a handy graphic editor and edit out the unneeded half of the screen it would be a better fit. The space for posts is about a half a screen width, with unlimited length.

Anywho, I’m just trying to help you avoid the flame warz. Personally its neither here nor there for me as long as the full text is around somewhere.

    @Carnasis Vanderfellow

    HAI GUYS!

Going forward we have a spanky new layout http://itemnotasdescribed.com/vote/ that looks great and includes the full ad in convenient thumbnail form so everyone can see the original if they so desire. :)
    Cheers!

I have been driving past this thing for at least five years now, between Silverdale and Subbase Bangor.. It has been a meth factory, a teenagers love shack *often* and a raccoon home. ugliest lawn ornament ever, and if someone takes it, i’ll be thrilled. Or I’ll blow it up before then.

  15. shanti says:

I’m surprised you didn’t contact the originator of this Craigslist post regarding the screengrabs. He is a computer technician afterall.

  16. mystic_eye_cda says:

    @admin
Doesn’t like thumbnails ;-) Just wants you to make the screenshot fit dammit!

Oh great now I’m one of the crazy flammerz.

  17. Nevertheless says:

I’ve been to Seabeck. This is not the only rusted out trailer sitting in a field in Seabeck.

  18. JD says:

Has everyone seen all the other post “…lover hard…”. I think this fits in that category. But no doubt of lately…hardly loved.
