You get the feeling this poster tried to sell this for two or three years, and can’t *believe* no one has bought it. He’s swallowed his pride, and realized, “OK, I have to give it away. But dammit, only to a worthy group! A trusty steward of my precious ‘handpainted Middle Earth on papier mache boot.’ God I wish the home would let me keep it. It was only scaring the other patients a little.” Let’s break it down:

Handpainted

So it has value as an artifact, a lovingly crafted product of human ingenuity. Pains were taken, etc. A strange object of human effort, but OK.

Middle Earth

Because it’s the best Earth.

map

Thank heavens. I wouldn’t want Elijah Wood getting lost.

on papier mache boot

Because where else are you going to paint your map of middle earth?!

circa 1979

I’d like this to go to a teacher

Of imaginary geography?

or someone who will use it for educational purposes, perhaps a library or non-profit that encourages reading.

If you don’t keep reading, I’m sending you to the corner, with the boot. Again.
